Its fun to win & deal w/adversity. The Elite Sports Baseball 10u mini mites win 18-15. The pitching struggled/must improve and throw more strikes. Just one of those games overcoming 14 walks and 3 hit batters. We had 7K's and most were timely. Along with a defense that continues to improve. Jakob Gittemeier toke a step forward catching tonight. Brandon Susek our 3rd reliver had the game winning hit and picked up his 1st win of the year. Offensively led by Susek 3 for 3 on base four times. Also strong at the plate Geoffrey Schultz and J. Gittemeier. Bottom of the lineup Cam Hart three walks and Paul Valenti a base hit, a walk and hit by pitch. Our 7/8 years olds on base 6 times. Including the last inning scoring key runs late. A team victory & character building win. Thanks to the best fans and parents & Coach Donnie. We grinded a win out tonight. A great win tonight as we continue to get better. Blessed to be coaching future stars. #Elite Sports Baseball

A very well played game on Thursday defeating a scrappy Shockers team 11-3. The ESB 10U mini mites (1-2) posting their first victory of the 2012 season. Congratulations to winning pitcher Jakob Gittemeier. After a tough first inning which Gittemeier gave up three runs, walked four and hit two batters. He was able to settle down and focus blanking the Shockers for the next two innings. Gittemeier departed after tossing 3 1/3 innings and evening his season record to (1-1). Cade Ellegood came in and was solid hurling 1 2/3 while recording four strikeouts. Our team defense has continued to improved the last few weeks and was excellent against the Shockers. Offensively we drew 8 walks and had some great team at-bats. Our team base running was outstanding and was key in Thursday's win. Starting shortstop Brandon Susek stayed hot w/ 2 more hits & 2 runs scored. Joe Valenti, Cole Bixby and Ellegood all contributed with key extra base hits. Gittemeier ended up w/ 2 hits & 2 runs scored. Great job by our two youngest players as well. Paul great job base running and Cam smashing a line drive. Super proud of both of you. Our Elite Sports Baseball Player of the Game is Jakob Gittemeier great effort on the mound and at the plate. #ESB Next game is next Tuesday 5/15 at Founders Park on Field #1 First pitch is scheduled for 815pm. Elite Sports Baseball 14U had a tough weekend finishing (0-3) dropping the final game in the 14AA Cinco De Mayo Slugfest St. Louis Fury defeat Elite Sports Baseball (8-4). Southpaw starter Paul Gill turned in a quality start. Defense has been a major issue as we wasted 2 quality starts this weekend. ESB 14U has committed 27 errors in 6 games along with 19 passed balls. Third baseman Danny Johnson was strong offensively on base twice w/ two RBIs. Tyler Brooks had hits in consecutive games and Ryan Reiling picked up a hit. Team defense has to improve and routine plays must be made. A great tournament with some excellent well coached opponents. The great thing about baseball is next week is a chance to focus practice and get better. LH
